Lockport Township High School excels at TSA Technology Day Competition

On November 7, 2024, students from Lockport Township High School participated in the 20th Annual Technology Student Association (TSA) Technology Day Competition at Illinois State University. The event was sponsored by the Illinois Technology Student Association in collaboration with the Department of Technology of Illinois State University and the Technology Education Collegiate Association (TECA).

Technology Day allows students to apply their technology and engineering design education through hands-on, problem-solving activities. The competition includes Level 1 for sixth to ninth grades and Level 2 for tenth to twelfth grades, aligning with the National Standards for Technological Literacy.

Students worked in pairs to tackle engineering and structural challenges across four categories. All teams from LTHS successfully solved their assigned problems, with five teams placing in the top three statewide.

The final results were as follows: David Krzysiak and Gabriel Sot achieved first place in Invention/Innovation – Level 2; Josephine Baranowski and Olivia Priest secured second place in Engineering Design – Level 1; Olivia Young and Olivia Picciola earned third place in Engineering Design – Level 1; Lia Merkel and Gavin Monreal also placed third in Transportation Technology – Level 1; Max Carroll and Liam Kane took third place in Engineering Design – Level 1.

The teachers who prepared these students include Will Salek for Welding, Jeff Brown for Engineering Design and Architecture, Corey Duzan for Introduction to Engineering Design, Dan Mostyn for STEM Exploration, and Dan Johnson for Digital Pathways.
