The Lockport Township High School Board recognized the school's volleyball team on December 16 for their successful season and achievements.
According to the board, the team competed in the State Competition at the CEFCU Arena in Normal, Illinois, at Illinois State University. They earned the title of 3rd Place State Champions in the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Class 4A tournament.
Lockport Township secured a victory against Chicago Marist in the semifinals with scores of 25-12 and 25-21. They earned third place by defeating them again with scores of 25-14 and 25-21.
The team concluded their season with a record of 36 wins and six losses, marking their best performance since 1993. The team also won their first sectional title since 2004 by defeating Oswego with scores of 25-21, 25-21 on Thursday, November 7. Senior middle hitter Jenna Kolosta was selected for the Illinois Volleyball Coaches Association (IVCA) First Team All-State, making her the first Lockport player to receive this honor since 2002.
