The city of Lockport has approved the purchase of a 2025 Ford F750 SuperCab, with costs capped at $234,739, as part of its vehicle replacement program. The decision was made at the city's December 18 Committee of the Whole meeting.
According to city officials, the 2025 Ford F750 was included in the budget to replace Truck #706 in the Water Department. The current vehicle, a 2013 Ford F-550 utility truck, has logged 78,441 miles and is in need of frequent repairs. Maintenance costs have surpassed $50,000 due to the truck's heavy daily use by the department.
Replacing aging vehicles is deemed essential for ensuring that the Public Works and Engineering Department can continue to serve the community efficiently and reliably.
The committee recommended approving Resolution No. 24-121 to authorize the purchase. The item was then added to the City Council agenda for consent or action.
The committee approved the resolution by consent.
