Lockport - Lois L. Gatlin, 97, of Lockport, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 24, 2025, with her family by her side. Originally from Joliet, Gatlin lived in Tennessee, Chicago, and Lockport, where she settled in 1950. She was a dedicated teacher at Oak Valley Elementary School and Laraway Middle School for many years before retiring in 1991. Gatlin was a member of First United Methodist Church for 75 years and enjoyed golfing and playing bridge. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband Richard Gatlin, parents Henry and Lovell Nussmeyer, siblings, son-in-law, and brother-in-law, she is survived by her children Linda Norman and Sandra Ekkert, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and sister Carol Poston. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Lightways Hospice in Gatlin's name are appreciated. Visitation and Funeral Service will be held on Friday, November 28, 2025, at O'Neil Funeral Home in Lockport, with interment privately held at Woodlawn Cemetery in Joliet.
