Fairmont School Board seeks qualified candidate for open position

Fairmont School District 89 is seeking to fill a vacancy on its School Board. Resumes will be accepted from April 1 to April 15, 2025, to fill the position that extends until April 2029. Interested residents are asked to submit their resumes to tdaniels@fsd89.org and boardmembers@fsd89.org by the April 15 deadline.

The district has outlined several requirements for the position. Applicants must be United States citizens, 18 years or older, and residents of both Illinois and the district for at least one year before the appointment. Additionally, candidates should be registered voters, and not have any disqualifying factors such as being a child sex offender or holding another incompatible public office. Furthermore, applicants must not have a prohibited interest in any contract with the district, cannot be school trustees, and should not hold prohibited state or federal employment.

Candidates chosen for interviews will be informed by April 17, 2025, with interviews scheduled between April 21 and April 25. The successful candidate is set to be approved by the Board on May 7 during the Committee of the Whole meeting.
